Stay in a quirky historic hotel.

Find out why: It's the famous "Ripley's Believe It or Not" Upside Down Hotel - you enter the lobby and ... A 2 minute walking distance from the Amtrak, downtown shops and restaurants, and the Sacramento River.

This old hotel offers a stay like no other! Built in the early 1920’s by Abner Weed, and originally called “The Weed Hotel,” Hotel Dunsmuir burned to the ground and was rebuilt in the 1940’s in traditional 40’s Art Deco Style. The post fire renovations were built around the building’s original brick skeleton. With the re-opening of the hotel in 1947 it again became known as “Dunsmuir’s finest”.

Once the largest city north of Sacramento.

Travelers visited Dunsmuir for its lively culture, pure healing water, and epic natural beauty.

Hotel Dunsmuir offered the most extravagant accommodations available in town and was once frequented by wealthy travelers and movie stars. After almost 100 years, the building is in the process of being revived yet again. The rooms available are uniquely themed and feature a full kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Relax, explore the town’s rich history, soak up the incredible natural beauty and pure glacial drinking water, and support our efforts to restore The Hotel Dunsmuir.
